The Federation is delighted to announce that funding of up to £1,000 has been secured to help enable us purchase Portable Appliance Testing Equipment.
The grant from Moray LEADER Programme along with money from our own reserves will be used to set up a Portable Appliance Testing Programme for all
the Village Halls in Moray.
The equipment will be purchased during March with the aim of rolling out the progamme early in April 2010.
We curerently have 3 Qualified Volunteers, with a 4 to follow soon. No charge will be levied on Halls for this and the trained volunteers
who will carryout the inspections will recieve travelling expenses from Federation funds.
A "test run" was performed at Portessie Public Hall on Bank Holiday Monday in which all the eletrical equipment used in the hall
was tested, it encompassed testing of some 80 individual items from kettles and irons to photocopiers and HiFi Systems and took about 5 hours.
In all 2 items were found to be 'defective' and immediately removed from service within the hall. A record was kept and a copy passed on to the Hall
Committee for their records.
We'll be back in two years time to check out their equipment again.
